Since 1998, Gateway has grown to over 4,500 people, made up mostly of unchurched people who began actively following Christ at Gateway.

John has spoken in 24 countries to over 300,000 church leaders and Christians about reaching a postmodern, post-Christian culture. Before Gateway, John served as an Executive Pastor and missionary in the U.S. and Russia. He and Kathy have been married twenty-three years and currently reside in Austin, Texas, with their two children, Ashley and Justin.

Rick Dunn

Rick Dunn – Executive Director
    Pastor Rick Dunn comes to Gateway Leadership Initiative with 30 years of missions and leadership experience in church & parachurch ministries. An expert in training and deploying leaders to fulfill their calling and advance the Great Commission, Coast Hills Community Church and most recently the Rock Church in San Diego, California. Rick continues his work in the church planting area and is currently working with Captivate Church and Aloha Church both in San Deigo.

Rick is also the founder of Global Frontiers Project, fulfilling his passion to see the Nations know the name of Jesus Christ, and planting churches where there were previously none. He also serves as the Associate Director of the “Finishing the Task” Movement seeking to enlist churches to take the responsibility for 631 Unengaged, Unreached People Groups throughout the world. Rick and his wife Mary-Beth, reside in Point Loma, California.

They have three sons Tucker, Ty & Trey.

Jason Neese

Jason Neese is a thinker, reader, observer, team-builder, adventurer, counselor, listener, coach, searcher, questioner, teacher, practitioner, rancher, patriot as well as a marriage to Britton in 1999 and father. Jason and his late wife, Britton (who he is still crazy about), have four kids (who are crazy about their dad) and live in Bonsall, California.

Jason spent 15 years working with junior high, high school and college-aged students.  He has enjoyed working in the trenches of family ministries and has been dedicated to developing pastors that are willing to walk alongside families during the difficult seasons of their lives.  Jason has had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at several summer and winter camps, church seminars and conferences, and coaching/counseling/therapy panels throughout the state of California.

Jason responded to the call at the Rock Church and has served as both the Pastor of Care, Concern, and Counseling and Lead Pastor to Family Ministries.  Jason also received his Master’s in both Theology & Marriage, Family and Child Therapy from Fresno Pacific University.  He has many years of experience both within the walls of the church as well as outside in public/private practice, schools, county mental health, and college campuses.   He has worked extensively with assessments, individuals, couples, parents, and families struggling with issues that include anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, grief, loss, anger, and stress. Jason has always had a deep passion for providing counseling for individuals, couples, and families who are walking through various life issues.  He believes in helping people learn how therapy can help them with matters of marriage, family, communication, forgiveness, and conflict resolution.  Jason loves to watch and see the transformation happen in people’s lives through Jesus Christ.
